Cosmic Blobs 3-D Graphics Software Fosters Creative Kids

The Cosmic blobs GUI provides access to a paint shop where kids can add paint, decals,
and custom decorations to the solid model.

Cosmic Blobs is 3-D
graphics software that lets
boys and girls stretch their
imaginations. But this soft-
ware is much more than
child’s play. It originated
in efforts to create new logic
and more agile interfaces for product

developers, and it serves as an incubator for new
software concepts.
     With Cosmic Blobs, kids start in a solids lab, where
they grab a chunk of digital clay, then bend, pull, and
twist it into desired shapes with just a few points, clicks,
and wiggles of a mouse. Kids can also rotate objects in
three dimensions.
Once the solid is shaped, the GUI provides access to a
paint shop where kids can add paint, decals, and custom
decorations to the solid model. Users choose from
super-elegant lines and hundreds of
color/texture options. From there, it’s on 
to an animation lab where kids put
their creations in motion, save
them, print them, and import them
to other applications.
       Cosmic Blobs doesn’t limit children to
passively consuming commercial images.
They can create and animate the concepts
that are in their imaginations, not just the
ones on TV. They become creators, artists,
